This is one of my favorite DIY (do it yourself) homemade cleaners. It really works and it just requires two easily available ingredients – (i) dawn dish soap and (ii) white vinegar. You will also need an empty spray bottle.
Step By Step Guide:
This is undoubtedly the easiest and cheapest DIY ever. Once you have dawn dish soap, white vinegar, and a spray bottle, you’re then ready to follow these 3 simple steps.
#1: Heat Up Vinegar
Use your microwave to heat up 12 oz. of vinegar for 2 minutes. That’s all the time needed. This step is required so that vinegar and soap can bond together. Note, you only need to do this once, not every time you use it.
#2: Put the Vinegar in the Spray Bottle
Pick a fairly good size spray bottle and then add the vinegar to it. I actually used a bottle that was a little too small the first time I tried this and ended up needing two bottles. To avoid this you will need at least a 22 oz. bottle or cut the recipe for your homemade solution accordingly.
# 3: Add Dawn Dish Soap
Now, add 10 oz. of Dawn dish soap. Choose the blue one and don’t substitute other dish soap. You can find the blue Dawn at your local supermarket.
Your solution is now ready for use. You will be completely surprised at how well it works. Just be sure to give the bottle a little shake before you actually use it.
It’s Testing Time…
Try the solution on a bathtub or shower that is hard to clean. Simply spray on the solution and let it sit there for a minute or two. And guess what? You don’t even need to scrub it. The solution will do the work for you. It will melt and break down the gunk and grime on the tub. Take a microfiber cloth and wipe away the soap scum and dirt to reveal your sparkling clean tub and shower.
If you clean off the dirt only to reveal rust and hard water stains give Total Koatings a call. We can refinish any hard flat surface with a true porcelain finish, covering the stains and even fixing the chips and cracks to give your old tub and shower a brand new appearance.
